Episcopal Youth Music Camp

HIST 101: Origins of Camp

The current Episcopal Youth Music Camp (EYMC) has its roots in a choir camp started by John Mitcheltree in the early 1960s. It grew from just choristers at St. Stephen’s (Edina) to include singers from all over the diocese. In the early 1980s funding dried up, and it was shut down.  Fortunately, its demise was short-lived - a group of church musicians revived the camp in 2001.  EYMC is held at Camp Heartland every August. Today the Camp is organized and sponsored by the Minnesota Episcopal Youth Arts Council (MEYAC).
